چکیده
Dual boundary element method-based numerical investigations are carried out on the wave reflection, transmission, and dissipation characteristics of a breakwater made porous cage filled with rocks. To assess hydrodynamic performance, we analyzed three different configurations (namely conventional trapezoidal shape, rectangular, inverted trapezoidal) by keeping volume rocks fixed for all configurations. An twin barrier is found to be efficient one reduce transmission. For practical range relative water depths in field, it that almost 25%–35% better reducing transmission when compared single rubble mound breakwater. It increasing number barriers tandem arrangement helps achieve coefficient less than 0.4 depth, required use h 1 / > 0.8 ${h}_1/h 0.8$ breakwater, where “h1” height “h” depth. The minimum porosity rock closer natural rocks, is, 0.4–0.5. If spacing between breakwaters S $S/h$ were 2, decreases an extent 5%–10%. present study useful design construction offshore wave-damping applications.

Wave Reflection at Submerged Breakwaters
Several types of structures are used in Coastal Engineering with the aim of preventing shoreline erosion, such as groynes, detached breakwaters, submerged breakwaters, etc. Submerged breakwaters have the advantage of their minimal visual impact, which has made them ever more popular (Chang & Liou, 2007). When the incoming waves impinge on a submerged breakwater, a process of energy transformati...
متن کاملWave-Structure Interaction for Submerged Quarter-Circle Breakwaters of Different Radii - Reflection Characteristics
The paper presents the results of a series of experiments conducted on physical models of Quarter-circle breakwater (QBW) in a two dimensional monochromatic wave flume. The purpose of the experiments was to evaluate the reflection coefficient Kr of QBW models of different radii (R) for different submergence ratios (d/hc), where d is the depth of water and hc is the height of the breakwater cres...

Article history: Received 19 October 2007 Received in revised form 19 February 2008 Accepted 20 February 2008 Available online 18 April 2008 This paper concerns the behaviour of nonlinear regular waves interacting with rectangular submerged breakwaters. A new series of experimental results is presented and compared with numerical calculations based upon a Boundary Element Method (BEM) that util...
متن کاملMonitoring Accropodes Breakwaters using RGB-D Cameras
Breakwaters are marine structures useful for the safe harbouring of ships and the protection of harbours from sedimentation and coasts from erosion. Breakwater monitoring is then a critical part of coastal engineering research, since it is crucial to know the state of a breakwater at any time in order to evaluate its health in terms of stability and plan restoration works. In this paper we pres...
متن کاملOn the interaction of wind and steep gravity wave groups using Miles’ and Jeffreys’ mechanisms
The interaction of wind and water wave groups is investigated theoretically and numerically. A steep wave train is generated by means of dispersive focusing, using both the linear theory and fully nonlinear equations. The linear theory is based on the Schrödinger equation while the nonlinear approach is developed numerically within the framework of the potential theory. The interaction between ...
